Chelsea are exploring the possibility of sending Ben Chilwell on loan to Turkey, according to a report by The Telegraph.
The left-back is expected to face an extended period without football if he remains at Stamford Bridge.
With the English and Saudi Arabian transfer windows now closed, Turkey offers Chilwell his only opportunity to secure playing time before January.
Chilwell, who earns around £200,000 a week, did not manage to secure a move before the Premier League transfer deadline and has since been sidelined by Chelsea’s head coach Enzo Maresca.
The club had hoped to sell the player but are now open to a loan arrangement as they have not received any permanent offers.
The Turkish transfer window remains open until September 18, providing a potential escape route for the England international.
However, Chelsea have yet to receive any concrete offers for the 26-year-old, who served as the club’s vice-captain last season.
Maresca, who has pushed Chilwell out of the first-team setup, has indicated that the left-back does not fit his tactical approach, which involves full-backs playing more centrally or as part of a back three.
Consequently, Chilwell has been training separately from the main squad.
Should Chilwell not secure a move to Turkey, he is set to miss out on senior football for at least four months, remaining out of the first-team picture until the January transfer window opens.
