Lagos State Police Commissioner Lanre Ishola announced the arrest of Kingsley Izoronwu, among over 200 suspects, during a press conference.
Izoronwu, 37, was apprehended alongside two accomplices, Desmond Emeka, 28, and Sheriff Olusunmoadi, 25, for their involvement in a series of robberies targeting female passengers at night using a Toyota Camry.
The police operation, conducted on September 22, 2024, led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, six live cartridges, and twelve stolen iPhones from the suspects. During interrogation, Izoronwu confessed to the crimes and disclosed that he had been previously arrested and was currently undergoing prosecution for stealing from his employer while living in the Island area of Lagos.
Commissioner Ishola emphasized that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the suspects’ criminal activities and to identify any additional victims.
