With 10 days to the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says the commission has never been this prepared.
It also assured that before the commencement of the poll, governorship candidates, political parties, media, observers, security agencies, among others will inspect sensitive materials.
While revealing that the sensitive materials will arrive in the state on Tuesday, the Chairman of the electoral body, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, assured that the election will be seamless.
Disclosing this while on a visit to the council offices of the commission in the state, the INEC chairman, stressed that the inspection of the materials by major stakeholders will commence on Wednesday before it will be moved to the local government areas on Thursday.
“The level of preparedness is very impressive. Very rarely will you find the commission this prepared before election.
“That is why I’ve been going around LGAs to see if they have everything they are supposed to have at this point. The only thing remaining is the sensitive materials which will arrive on Tuesday next week.
“On Wednesday, there will be inspection of the sensitive materials by all parties, candidates, observers, security agencies, media houses, personnel of the commission, among others,” he said.
