Manchester United legend and former midfielder Paul Scholes, didn’t hold back when discussing what he considers the club’s worst signing.
Speaking on The Overlap’s Fan Debate, Scholes dismissed the notion that Antony, United’s £85 million signing, was the club’s biggest flop.
Despite criticisms over the Brazilian’s performance since his arrival in 2022, Scholes has other names to mention.
He pointed fingers at a former teammate, goalkeeper Mark Bosnich, who rejoined United in 1999 after a successful stint at Aston Villa.
While Bosnich arrived with a strong reputation, Scholes revealed that the Australian’s lack of professionalism and fitness shocked the team.
“Bosnich came to us so unprofessional. Honestly, it was ridiculous,” Scholes remarked.
He criticized Bosnich’s inability to endure even brief shooting practices and highlighted a glaring flaw in the keeper’s game.
“He couldn’t kick a football. We played Everton away the first game of the season, and he couldn’t reach the halfway line—on a perfect day.”
Scholes even humorously noted that Bosnich’s size 14 feet contributed to his struggles, describing them as “big flippers” that hampered his performance.
